Earth Hour is a simple message of change. Simple actions have huge impacts. Here in Brisbane, we've launched a house-by-house and street-by-street campaign called GreenHeart CitySmart to show people how to make simple, affordable changes in their lives. Across southeast Queensland, 18 Mayors including myself in Brisbane have taken up the Earth Hour pledge. We will be contributing to an almighty blackout stretching more than 200 kilometres north-to-south and 100 kilometres east-to-west. We love our unique lifestyle and we are passionate about
protecting it. Across the globe, the Earth Hour phenomenon will generate a huge Mexican wave stretching far beyond the 60 minutes on 29 March 2008. Earth Hour is a powerful large-scale movement for change. I urge you to take part.
- Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman
