Earth Hour is about taking simple steps everyday that collectively reduce carbon emissions – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby.
Here are ten different ways to spend Earth Hour and reduce your greenhouse gas emissions:
- Gather family & friends for a night picnic
- Dine in one of the many Earth Hour participating restaurants by candlelight
- Organise a family night playing board games
- Throw an Earth Hour street party with your neighbours
- Arrange a house party lit by torches
- Take the dog for a night walk
- Hand write a letter to loved one by lantern
- Sit in the dark and share stories
- Read a book using a book light
- Share a romantic night in with your loved one
I will be spending my earth hours with friends and family, this will be great, cant wait for Saturaday to come. Santiago,Chile
ReplyDeleteWe had family over for a candlelight supper. Turned most appliances, computer, tv, etc. off as well. Enjoyed the evening and plan to do this more regularly. We left everything off all evening, and noticed that most of the houses in our neighbourhood were dark as well. We also participated in the star count through the Canadian Space Agency.
